♡ make sure to read everything before requesting/asking questions ♡

<>

you are free to request the following:
-icons*
-lockscreens
-sprite edits
<>

*a note on icons:
you are allowed to request icons depicting a different sexuality than that of canon for a certain character. I will be labelling them like so:
"Icons for bi/others people who like dirk/kan/rose"
In this way, I am not erasing canon sexualities, while you can have your own flag for a background.
-
you are not allowed to request "bi kanaya/dirk" as this is erasure
-

I do some homestuck characters, this includes:
-Main characters
-Alpha & Beta characters
-Alt universe characters
(Candy Dave, Alpha Rose & Roxy, Ult Dirk)
-Dancestors
-
(^except for those in my DNR or those that are too difficult/complicated to edit)
-

I do not consider anything in hs^2 truly canon. You can request John or June requests and I will do them.
Shut the fuck up about the discourse. I will not answer your petty little messages.
-

feel free to specify your phone type for the lockscreens to fit apropriately <3

<>

you can easily check if requests are open or closed by looking at my bio or ask page :>

please respect when requests are closed! Any requests sent in while reqs are closed will be deleted :<

-I use Medibang Paint Pro, a free japanese art software.

-I use a Wacom tablet to draw

-I use Medibang's normal brushes for my sprite edits, as well as some personal brushes.

-I get my sprites from the Sprites Resource. Any other sprites I use I just search for them or make them myself :P

Some useful tips for beginners:

1) Try to mimic the artist’s style when editing sprites. When I edit, i usually look at the other sprites in the set to see their style of shading and linework. This makes the lines look more realistic. Like I know the roxy sprite uses differing line sizes, while the john artist uses thinner lines.

2) In addition to that ^ I also don’t use a whole bunch of wacky colours (unless it’s requested) onto the sprites, like neon or other bright colours because the sprites are usually colour-based (jake being greeny, dave is reddish, etc etc) and I stick with that kind of vibe when editing my sprites. I also never use actual black when editing unless it’s lineart. This makes the lineart pop while your eyes can still see whatever you coloured in!

3) Less is more, really. I try to not add too much detail onto the sprites, they’re simple and use simple shading, so I don’t use blending tools because this makes it look foreign to the original sprite. (Though i guess sometimes this rule can be bent.) I also don’t overdo my lines or add too much to them. I suggest you do some trial runs and see where that takes you!

4) As always, use real life references when editing clothing! Study how different types of clothing bend at the elbow, neck, & belly areas, and how rings fit on fingers, how bracelets look on wrists, etc etc. It helps a bunch I promise.

5) Lastly, just practise!! And take your time. I’ve been drawing my whole life, and have taken art classes, too. Have fun when you draw, cause that’s probably the most impoartant thing for me!!
